Charlie's Visit - Washington

During Thanksgiving we went to Washington for 3 days. We stayed at the Sheraton at Arlington. It was a lovely hotel - here is the lobby.

This is our room:

On our first night (Thanksgiving) we went to a restaurant called David Gregory. It was a lovely meal. Unfortunately we got a bit lost trying to find the metro back! Thankfully a lovely couple came to our aid.

The next day we went visiting the sights. We did a lot of walking!

First we saw the Whitehouse - but we didn't see President Bush!

This is the Washington Monument. Thankfully we had a beautiful day - I love the stream of light in front of it - clever heh!

This is the World War II Memorial which then leads on to the Lincoln Memorial:

This is the statue of Abraham Lincoln which is inside:

This is the new (newish) Korean War Memorial:

We then went and visited the various Smithsonian museums. Here is the Natural History one:

Inside they have the Hope Diamond:

We then walked to the Ford Theatre where Lincoln was shot. Here is the actual booth he was shot in. They even have his coat that he was killed in at the museum.

After we had walked for what was miles we went back to a Mexican restaurant near the hotel and had lovely food.

The next day we went to Georgetown. It is very posh there and the shops, restaurants and buildings are very historical. Well historical for the USA anyway!

They even had a Dean and Deluca!

This is where we went for lunch as it was a lovely day we ate outside.

The next day we had to leave. But on the way home we visited:

Need I say more!

Charlie's Visit - The Charlotte Bobcats

This is my lovely sister Charlie! On her second night in Greensboro I took her, as a special treat, to see the Charlotte Bobcats (basketball team) in Charlotte NC. Here is Charlotte outside the stadium.

And here is the basketball match - this was taken on a time out.

Here is the club mascot - scary isn't he!

During each quarter, they had some entertainment come onto the court. These were the cheerleaders!

At half time they had lots of fun stuff going on. They also did the kiss cam - it was sweet!

Also at half time I arranged for a special message to come up on the screen to Charlie. Unfortunately I was out getting snacks so I missed it but Charlie saw it and so did thousands of other people! It said something like "welcome to America and your first Charlotte Bobcats game." She loved it.
